What are our modern day ideas about beauty and are they harmful?

Girls, especially fat girls, think that the beauty of slender people is a reproach to them, and an injunction to starve themselves out of existence. Whether this is exactly an ';idea,'; has yet to be demonstrated, or even whether it's so much ';thought'; as just kind of wordlessly, witlessly sensed or felt. In any case, in third world countries where fat girls are thought beautiful, bulimia and anorexia nervosa are unheard of.What are our modern day ideas about beauty and are they harmful?
There is the idea that beauty can only have one form, as in, there is an ideal that everyone's following. (think Barbie)





That's harmful because it implies that only some people even stand a chance to be beautiful. It's also the reason why many women turn to plastic surgery and we see so many blond, full-lipped clones around.What are our modern day ideas about beauty and are they harmful?
I never go for the media type beauty.


If a guy has 'kind eyes' that is what I am looking for is OK with me.


Media distorted the image. Fashion did too. Is ok to have a few extra pounds or to be skinny or even girlie. Looks is the last thing that relate to beauty in my mind.


The soul of a person, kindness, the way they speak means much more.

About people are a post to be a normal size or something like that. I think that's harmful cause it could cause young girls to have eating disorders because they want to be normal or skinny. hope i helped.
